This two-part shoot allowed us to get a bit of urban, city feel plus some of Fall colors. I met them at just about sunset at the Pioneer Square Pagoda. We later ventured through the nearby park, alleys and found some fun wall art on 2nd. The rural shots started in Magnolia and we added in the Helix Bridge near Amgen on 15th.
Portfolios are great, but a story is in the sequence of images. In between the weddings and family shoots I post here, I'll toss in some photographer's thoughts about equipment, software and industry. Please add your email to my blog list to receive updates when I add new content- never more than one update email per week. Thanks!
Another great winter wedding this time at the wonderful Sodo Park just south of the stadiums. We made great use of areas in the proximity such as the Seahawks stadium stairs, Pioneer Square alleyways, Cafe Umbria (my all-time fav coffee), Occidental Park and all of the fun spaces within Sodo Park.
Meredith and Levi got ready separately at the Silver Cloud hotel next to Safeco. When the guys were ready, we did some quick pics out in front of the ballpark and then brought Meredith into the fray for their first look. We weaved through construction in Pioneer Square for wedding party photos then met up with family at Sodo Park. The day continued as the ceremony flowed into the reception party with lots of fun dancing. Guests lit their sparklers at the end of the night and cheered them into their getaway car.
Chalk this one up to one of those 'epic' weddings that had me up early in the morning for bride details, touring downtown Seattle in the afternoon hours, covering a sunny Broadmoor Golf Club ceremony and finishing with an energetic reception. Don't forget the surprise wish lanterns released on the golf course when the sun set. Some fun details to take notice of below are the pink shoes and corresponding up-lights, table-top items, the stenciled window seating charts and cool cupcakes.
Holly and Matt had recently moved to Manhattan to take on new job opportunities, but these Seattle natives came home to be married at the fabulous Arctic Club Hotel in downtown Seattle surrounded by all of their family and friends. When we first met Holly over coffee in Queen Anne, she mentioned her desire to have photos outdoors around the hotel. As the day approached, we noticed that the Seattle forecast was showing rain (go figure!) so we scouted out locations in nearby Pioneer Square looking for some sort of cover. We found such great spots including the Downtown Waterfall Park, the iron and glass pergola at the heart of old town, the fire station with its classic red doors and the amazing architecture of the Seattle Library.
On the day of the wedding, after giving Holly and Matt an opportunity to see each other at the hotel's stone entrance, we were excited to see the clouds part and reveal the sun. We took advantage of this break in the weather by walking through Firefighter Park. Holly's dress was so long it required each groomsman and groom to keep it off the ground as she lead the pack. At the pergola, we broke out the rented umbrellas and shot into the sun just passing over the historic buildings behind the group.
Back at the hotel, guests took their seats and Holly entered the amazing dome room with her father. Holly and Matt exchanged personal vows and a kiss, then recessed while the guests moved downstairs for drinks and appetizers as the dome room was turned over. When we re-entered the dome room, it was a totally different space. The cake was placed in the center of the room with the head table just about in the same spot as the bridal party stood for the ceremony. After toasts, dinner and dancing, Holly and Matt departed the hotel past their sparkler-waving guests.
